SU (State educational grant)
SU is an educational grand that all full-time higher education students can apply for. All Danish students of full-time programs are entitled to receive SU as well, as students under EU law. The international students under EU law must fulfill specific requirements in order to be able to be entitled for receiving SU grant.
Requirements for international students:
Being enrolled in a full-time higher education program
Being a citizen of EU/EEA country or Switzerland
EU worker status - being employed or self-employed in Denmark
Working 43 hours per month (10-12 hours every week)
Having a CPR number and a Danish bank account
Amount received:
- SU is around 6200 DKK per month before taxes meaning that if you put it on your A-kort (tax card), you will receive around 5600 DKK per month.
SU holidays:
- SU holidays is a 6 week period that you are allowed to use every year. If you have failed to work the required amount of hours per month you can easily decide to use SU holidays. However, you need to work for 3 consecutive months in order to be able to use this benefit. It resets once a year depending on when you decide to use your SU holidays.
