LIVING IN ODENSE

If you want to compare a Slovak city to Odense, it would probably be Nitra, one of the regional capitals in western Slovakia. It has a cozy and calm atmosphere but also the busyness of a bigger city.

The lifestyle is not as different from urban areas of Slovakia as you would expect. People are making themselves busy trying to focus on their career and goals but still willing to hang out with their closest friends and maintain relationships.

When you come from Bratislava to Odense it might feel like life slows down a bit but this is what you can use as an advantage in order to meet new people or start a new hobby.

Odense is Denmark's third largest- and Funen's largest city with 180, 302 inhabitants. Odense is one of the oldest cities in all of Scandinavia. Odense was first mentioned in writing in 988, but the city is probably even older. The poet H.C. Andersen was born in 1805 and grew up in the city.

Odense buzzes with life, cosiness, experiences and cultural offerings for young people. The many educational institutions mean that a very large part of Odense's inhabitants are in the young age group, and this can be felt in the atmosphere and pulse of the city when walking around the streets.

Odense has a lot of charm. This also applies to the city's restaurants, bars and cafes. There is a lot to choose from and many you will find in cozy passages and side streets. These create a completely unique atmosphere, where subdued lighting and cosiness are the key words. There are also cafes, located by the river, so you can enjoy a cup of coffee in beautiful surroundings with air and life around you. In addition, Odense is Denmark's greenest city, which you can clearly see when you move around the city among all the scenic areas.

As representatives of students from both Slovakia and Denmark, we think that Odense is a fantastic city for students from abroad. It has everything you need, it is safe and secure, student life offers many different events and the city life is vibrant. We can only recommend coming to Odense to study!
